With the real estate market and construction industry being as busy as they are, Moxie’s UAV operations in Ontario have been in high demand in 2016. I’ve probably been asked about 100 times over the course of the year to put a demo reel together but quite honestly, at this point, I just have too much footage to go through.

So it would happen, on an uncharacteristically beautiful day late in October, I take it upon myself to complete a location scout that had been requested of me by a producer we’re currently working with. I was to look for the “back entrance” into Bronte Provincial Park and “follow the trail”.

Well, said trail was actually a foot path that traveled about 18 inches alongside one of the most treacherous looking cliffs I’d ever seen, which was approximately a 150 foot drop to Bronte Creek. So dangerous in fact that I stopped following it as there was no possible way people actually traversed this trail on a regular basis. Yet as I was hiking my way back to safety I was passed by a jogger, then a couple of teenagers, and finally a nice old lady walking her dog. Apparently imminent death isn’t such a big deal these days, so I sucked it up and followed the nice old lady back along the cliff’s edge.

A few minutes later I ran into the transformer assembly that opens up the canopy and crosses the valley and then sure enough, Bronte Park. It was at this particular juncture that I realized my quick job was done and I was surrounded by such an amazing landscape that I decided to do something I haven’t done in a very long time – use my flying camera as a hobbyist. Take a few pictures, grab some footage, fly around the trees, dare I say make a quick demo reel?!?

So here it is, probably one of the best ways to spend one’s lunch hour – taking in God’s wonderful canvas of colours, a work of art we named “Autumn”.
